A Brief History

The watchmaker R. Lapanouse founded an own watch company in 1924. This produced Roskopf watches with cheap movements (named after Georg Friedrich Roskopf). The brand name Cimier (French for: helmet embellishment) started in 1951. Until 1957 low-cost wristwatches were produced under the name "Lapanouse-Cimier". During the quartz crisis in the 1970 years, Cimier responded with a clever strategy: the electronic items from specialized suppliers were purchased and the production of mechanical components in-house was maintained and successfully combined. Nevertheless in 1985 the watch production finished.
