7150-1 Longines Super-Compressor Diver

The reference 7150-1 is a splendid tool watch boasting a Super Compressor case that allowed for water resistance to 200 meters.

In the late 1950s, diving watches were all the rage. Longines first released the Skin Diver, and quickly followed it up with a 42mm diver, the reference 7042, which relied on a Super Compressor case. Manufactured by Piquerez, these cases ingeniously relied on underwater pressure to increase their water resistance; this essential innovation proved so efficient that Longines made very few changes to its diver over the next decade.

Reference 7150-1 was produced in 1961-1962 and features a few upgrades, including an automatic caliber 290, which offered a higher beat than the former movement 19AS. Its water resistance was also doubled, reaching 200 meters
