The Living Daylights – Heuer Ref. 980.031

Heuer dalton pic.jpg

This was the first of two Bond films to star Timothy Dalton. The watch of note that Bond wore was a Heuer Ref. 980.031 quartz dive watch with a fully black case and bracelet. The other noticeable feature of the watch was the luminous dial.

“Heuer” was becoming “TAG Heuer” as a company while The Living Daylights was being made. The PVD 980.031 Night Dive watch is one of those carry-overs that can be found with Heuer- and TAG Heuer-branded dials. For a variety of reasons, the monochrome-black case, black bracelet, with glow-dial is uncommon among the already uncommon to come up for sale. Additionally, due to the nascency of physical vapor deposition (“PVD”) technology at the time, when they are offered, its usually with show of significant wear.

Licence to Kill – Rolex Submariner Reference 16800/168000

In his final Bond film, Dalton wore a Rolex Submariner, and since the film came out in 1989 it is most likely a Rolex Submariner Reference 16800/168000. This is the last film featuring a Rolex Submariner on the wrist of James Bond.
