The Orvin Watch Co

It was founded in the Canton of Bern in Switzerland, where the French-speaking municipality of Bernese Jura is located. There were essentially two movements produced by Orvin, the less sophisticated but equally reliable inexpensive mechanism by Ebauche, and the more highly regarded movement from Cortebert with an import code of XOS.

Originated in the 1940s, The Swiss Orvin watches were luxury watches sold exclusively in the United States by Sears and Roebuck, holding the exclusive trademark for the American arm of the brand from December 1951 through the late 1970s.

For the second half of the 20th century, Orvin started producing reliable tool watches having distinguished itself as a watchmaker and supplier for 17 Jewels Swiss-Made manual wound anti-magnetic shock-resistant military-style gents’ wristwatches. It is equipped with a highly regarded movement from Swiss manufacturer Felsa, Corterbert, and A.Schild right after the second world war when the Swiss watchmaking industry dominated the watch market. It was in the 1960s when divers watches were produced for Orvin and to this day, very few showpieces are still in the trade as collectibles.
